Story
9 years ago life changed with our first born Jude when he contracted Group B Strep, meningitis and Sepsis at 8 days old .
Jude now has Lifelong disabilities, however were grateful beyond words he is here, it was very touch and go his survival and we were repeatedly told they didn’t know if they could save him...
Jude has little vision remaining, adhd, autism and epilepsy, however he also has a never give up attitude and I’m bloody proud to call him my son, even on the days he likes to use his colourful language at me ! (Anyone who knows Jude understands how vibrant he can be when he has a meltdown 😉)
Meningitis now stepped in with counselling for me when it got really tough
They bought Jude his iPad for school
They funded swimming lessons for him as they knew the importance with his disabilities of him being safe in the water
They paid for repeat trips to Great Ormond Street Hospital in the early days when driving or travelling by train to London and back was just too expensive.
They paid for Jude to see his Occupational therapist as the NHS had no space and a very long waiting list.
They are there always as a support for us all as a family emotionally and if you ever have a day where you say this is hard you know you can call them and were incredibly grateful
So why run to raise money when your slow and it’s gonna hurt and your gonna be lucky to finish in 4 hours .....
It’s simple in the words of Kate Bush...
“And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
Be running up that road
Be running up that hill
Be running up that building
See if I only could"
