Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm running to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis UK.
One of my dearest friends, Nicola, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 5 years ago. MS is a disease of the central nervous system. The immune system instead of fighting off an infection or virus turns on itself attacking the nerve endings. MS affects about 100,000 people in the UK, and there is no cure for this disease. There are many conventional drug treatments used to treat the symptoms of MS. Patients often find alternative therapies also help them cope with symptoms. However, what has struck me most talking to Nicola is that receiving a diagnosis of MS puts people in a position of extreme uncertainty about what this means for them and their future. The variety of work that MS-UK does, from counselling to advising on welfare rights, is therefore greatly needed.
Nicola has been incredibly positive and pro-active in coping with the consequences of the disease. In looking for support and advice she has found the MS-UK to be a great resource. Your donation will therefore go towards enabling people like Nicola to continue to make use of the indispensible services MS-UK provides.
