Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation's research and I'd be so grateful for your support.
Many of you know that this year I started my PhD, but not many of you know my research is fully sponsored by the British Heart Foundation.
Science stuff... My PhD project focusses on cMyBP-C, a protein involved in the contraction of the heart. In many patients with heart disease cMyBP-C is mutated. This mutation leads to the heart being less able to pump blood effectively, and in some cases can result in severe heart failure and sudden cardiac death. My research therefore aims to better understand the role of cMyBP-C in the heart, and therefore identify how mutations in cMyBP-C lead to dysfunction in cardiac contractility and subsequently heart disease.
I am only one of thousands of researchers funded by the BHF. We cannot thank the BHF enough for this support, but its the people behind the fundraising that are also to thank. It is for this reason I wanted to do my bit and give something back.
£24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, like me, but every pound helps so I'd be so grateful if you could give what you can to help me reach my target!!
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives, so we need heart research to continue! Thanks!
