WE DID IT 😊
18 months ago the details of this cycling trip across the Rift Valley in Kenya appeared in my inbox. It really appealed as it felt like a great way to celebrate 5 years post cancer, I love track cycling & also wild Africa.
After receiving such great treatment for Breast Cancer along with much support from the Breast Cancer charity websites on issues such as the best place to find hats to cover your chemo hair, usual side effects etc, I wanted to find a way to give back to them.
The fact that this trip fundraises for three women cancer charities (Breast Cancer Now, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust & Ovarian Cancer Action) also ties in with my all-female team at Pillow May too.
However since I decided to complete the challenge, Covid has struck! So whilst I really hope that we will get to Kenya, I will be doing the challenge regardless. If necessary, I will change the trip to a coast to coast British cycle instead (similar distance, same dates).
The cancer charities (Breast Cancer Now, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust & Ovarian Cancer Action) are in more need than ever for donations this year. I'm paying for the costs of my trip so all your donation will directly benefit the charities.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
UPDATE - Kenya has been cancelled so I've planned a 7 day ride from St Bees in the Lake District to Robin Hood Bay in North Yorkshire instead. The ride is over tracks & small country lanes, incorporating a number of UK cycle tracks. My wonderful parents are my support team!
