London to Brighton Cycle 2023 · 10 September 2023 ·

The London to Brighton Cycle is back and we are looking to go bigger than ever. The largest ever number of Team Bowel Cancer UK cyclists are coming together with one aim - a future where nobody dies of bowel cancer.

Story

I signed up for this challenge before anything happened. Bowel Cancer was something that happened to other people. Then my husband Steve was admitted to hospital with anaemia, and we found out the hard way that Bowel Cancer can affect anyone at any age. It's the fourth most common cancer in the UK and the second biggest cancer killer, but if caught early it can be treated.

Steve's prognosis is not good. By the time he was diagnosed, his bowel cancer had spread. He has already undergone palliative surgery and is about to start chemotherapy that we hope will extend his life and keep him pain free for as long as possible.

This challenge has become something far more important to me, not just to raise money for a worthwhile charity researching new diagnostic and treatment approaches for Bowel Cancer, but as a focus to help me cope with the awful situation we find ourselves in.

I am going to be doing various fundraising events culminating in the bike ride in September 2023. All proceeds from these events will be added to this page.

Please support this fantastic charity and give whatever you can.

Thank you so much, Jess, Steve, Arthur and Ivy
