Emmanuel Primary School is privileged to work in partnership with the Wellspring Church to support Jewels School in Allen Town, Sierra Leone.

We need your help! Storage and safety at Jewels School is a challenge as there are no cupboards or shelved for the resources that we have brought out and no railings to separate the school grounds from the road (have a look out for this in the video above). Resources are currently stored in suitcases in the Headteacher's room and there is a 2 metre ditch on the edge of the playground. This year we would love to fundraise enough money that our builders on the team could build secure storage for all the resources and the books that we have brought out each year and to improve the external landscape of the school.
For the past 3 years, Madeline Bond (Emmanuel's Inclusion Manager) and Melanie Crockard (Emmanuel's Deputy Headteacher) have visited Jewels School to support and train the teachers.
Each year we plan our visit around a theme for our teaching. In 2012 we focused on creative teaching around a whole school topic of the sea. In 2013 we taught art lessons in every class and in 2014, our focus was reading. Each year we are inspired by the community of Emmanuel School, where children and parents generously donate materials such as paper, stickers, chalk and pencils. This year our school community worked together as a team and we were able to give each child in Jewels School a book. It is through this generosity and kindness that we were able to take out 11 suitcases of resources!
