Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am running the London Marathon to raise funds for Smile Malawi, a charity set up and run by my cousin Elspeth. She has built an orphanage for street children and orphans of Blantyre, southern Malawi. My target is to raise £8000 which is the amount needed to connect the orphanage, which has now been built, to the mains electricity supply.  This will enable water to be pumped to irrigate the land she has also bought, to enable crops to be grown, as well as the other more obvious benefits of electricity! This money will also enable the nearby village of Ndokota to be connected to the elctricity supply, so the whole community will benefit from my efforts! I try and remember all this as I go out and train on  dark nights, as it just about makes it bearable!!

My target amount is massive, but please help me raise as much as possible towards this. Any amount will be hugely appreciated, as the first children are shortly to move into the orphanage, and electricity will really benefit their quality of life and education.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Smile Malawi will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
