Story
12th JULY
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This terrible Pandemic which has swept the world will have a devastating effect on many many charities and none more so than Scottish Orange Home Fund. Since most of our normal fund-raising income is generated at large social gatherings and from bucket collections etc. our loss will be greatly felt in the next financial year and this has inspired us to look at alternative ways of fundraising online. Our esteemed Brother, Henry McWhinney celebrates his 100th birthday on 18th July. Henry has generously agreed to allow the Scottish Orange Home Fund to share his birthday in the hope that we can compensate for some of the financial loss will experience this year. Henry was a great walker and I can still picture him striding it out only 3 years at the age of 97 ago along with his friends in County Grand Lodge of Glasgow, All the way to the field and back and not even out of breath. Sadly Henry had a fall at end of 2019 and finds walking a little difficult at present so, as walking is our thing(understatement) we decided we would help him out and walk for Henry.
We are deeply indebted to all those who have already donated and taken us way over the original target. We are now over the hill and on homeward straight and counting down only 6 days to go. There is still an opportunity for those who haven't yet given to get online and make a donation. Every penny counts, we thank you, Henry thanks you and Scottish Orange Home Fund thanks you.
