Story
Jiffy Packaging celebrates its 50th year in June 2014. To mark the occasion members of the Jiffy team have decided to undertake a physical challenge and in doing so raise money for Cancer research UK.
Our Chosen Charity
Cancer Research UK continuously works hard on all aspects of cancer – from understanding the causes to developing better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat it.
There are over 200 different types of cancer and we believe cancer is very close to all of us and we want to help contribute to beat this dreadful disease. We cannot do this without your support.
The Challenge
The National Three Peaks Challenge is an event in which our team will attempt to climb the highest mountains of Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours. The three peaks are:
- Ben Nevis (1,344 m or 4,409 ft), the highest mountain in Scotland
- Scafell Pike (978 m or 3,209 ft), the highest mountain in England
- Snowdon (1,085 m or 3,560 ft), the highest mountain in Wales
The total distance walked is estimated at 42 kilometres (26 miles) with a total ascent of 9,800 feet (3,000 m).
The Jiffy Team
We have a Team of 3 Walkers and 1 dedicated driver.
The team will be led by our team leader, Max Weller, Jiffy’s MD and instigator of this challenge. He will be accompanied on the walk by Steve Moore and Ian Whitcombe from the Sales Team. Driving the 450 miles between the 3 peaks will be undertaken by National Account Manager Martin McGreevy.
It is no co-incidence that as Jiffy turns 50 the average age of the team members is also 50!
