Taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge with the team from St Luke's has been inspired by and is in memory of my friend Katie Justice. This is a 26 mile timed challenge which takes in the peaks of Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent.

Katie lost her battle with cancer in September 2017, just a few days before her 40th birthday and in a cruel turn of events having thought that she'd beaten the disease.

Katie always sparkled and had an infectious enthusiasm for life; her loss remains incomprehensible.

I had the privilege to spend some time with Katie in St Luke's during her final days, and I understood instantly the wonderful reputation it carries. I have also come to understand how much it relies on public donations, fundraising events and support in order to continue its amazing work.

So, here I am, relishing the challenge of the Yorkshire Three Peaks on 12th June 2021, for St Luke's.........and for Katie.
