TOTAL RAISED SO FAR £17,360
The Story so far
In 2003 I began making hand-crafted birthday cards which soon increased to cardsfor almost every occasion, firstly for ourselves then for our daughter who insisted on paying me. So, as at that time our local Methodist Chapel was raising funds to sink wells in Mali, I decided that WaterAid should receive the money. Our Friend and hairdresser was my second customer; she remains a very regular contributor and always gives in excess of the cost of the cards. I still charge just £1 for each one. Each year we take my cards to sell at our twice yearly Methodist Synod and usually do very well, as we now have regular customers who make a bee-line for our stall. On the third Saturday in October we hold a Coffee Morning ☕️ in our home and exceeded our expectations by raising £600 last October which included some very generous donations. We sell the cards at other coffee mornings locally; friends and neighbours frequently call in for maybe just one card or a dozen, every little helps! Thank you to everyone for your continuing support 😀
My fame has spread far and wide and I am often requested to send a batch of cards to various folk I have ‘met’ through them having received a card from someone and wish to buy a selection for their own use.
So, believe it or not, just by selling these handmade greetings cards plus some very generous donations, I have raised over £17,000 and have a new target of £20,000.
Locally I am often referred to as the WaterAid lady!

There are millions of people throughout the world, in many countries, who do not have access to clean water or any sanitation. WaterAid not only provide clean water but teach the local people to maintain the equipment and supply the necessary tools. One of the most shocking facts is that over 10% of the world's population have no access to clean drinking water and a staggering 40% no sanitation facilities!

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you - post Christmas is a very hectic time for us - but that can only be a good thing!
