Help transform The Pankhurst Centre, the UK's dedicated Suffragette Museum and the home of Manchester Women's Aid, during the centenary of the first women gaining the right to vote

Story

Please spur me on to climb England’s highest mountain
Scafell Pike on Sunday 9th September to raise funds for the unique
Pankhurst Centre in Manchester, birthplace of the Suffragette movement and last family home of Emmeline Pankhurst and her daughters. It is manned! Only by volunteers though, when it should be a national heritage site. Grade II listed and the only museum dedicated to women’s suffrage, it was the first place I visited in Manchester twelve years ago, when I felt an immediate connection to those women.

It receives no public funding for its maintenance or management, it is hugely significant in the nation’s democratic history and its future needs to be secured for generations to come. If ever there was a time to do this, it is this year, as the nation is marking one hundred years since some women won the right to vote.
