Dad’s Blind Walk · 8 February 2021

We believe every blind veteran should be able to lead the life they choose. At Blind Veterans UK we’re one, transformational team. We provide rehabilitation, training, practical advice and emotional support. Together we can help rebuild lives.

Story

My Dad, Colin Hawkins, who is 84 was registered severely visually impaired last November, basically he is almost totally blind, he can see the brightness from the sun, but can’t see me and his family anymore. He is very apprehensive of going outside now, yet in the past enjoyed walking.

He would like to walk 63 laps of the local recreation ground in Stowmarket, starting Mon 8th Feb and finishing on his and my Mums 63rd Wedding Anniversary on the 8th of March. He wants to do a lap for each year, they have been married. Obviously myself or my husband (as his Carers) will be guiding him on his walk.

As an ex Royal Engineer, he would like all monies to go to the Blind Veterans UK, who are helping him in his time of need.

I thank you all in advance.
