BUPA Great North Run 2013 · 15 September 2013 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As most of you will know, James and Charlotte were born 10 weeks prematurely on 8th & 9th November 2010 (just 5 minutes apart but over midnight!). They weighed just 3lb each at birth and spent the first seven weeks in the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at York District Hospital.
Thanks to the fantastic care they received whilst on SCBU they are now happy and healthy two year old toddlers doing all the things they should (and shouldn't!) be doing. Dan and I also appreciated all the amazing support SCBU offered us as worried parents. We will never, ever forget the special time they spent in hospital and will be eternally grateful to all the staff at York SCBU.
On Sunday 15th September I shall be taking part in the Great North Run. It will be the furthest I have ever run and whilst I don't intend to break any records I do hope to at least run it all! Of course I'm not doing it for my own enjoyment but to raise funds for York SCBU Support Group, a charity very close to our hearts. It helps provide specialised medical or surgical equipment to the Unit and improved amenities and facilities as well as practical and emotional support for parents with sick or tiny babies on the Unit.
