Story

Kent Union's and GK Unions' sports clubs and societies are the greatest source for students to gain vital career and life skills, maintain and improve their physical and mental health and improve their chances of employment. Many students struggle to be able to afford to participate in student activities. The Access to Activities Fund provides support to students who wish to participate in our clubs and societies but can' t due to cost barriers. In 2016/17 £7,000 has been made available, by Christmas alone we had allocated £6,857, for example for membership fees, essential playing equipment and contributions toward competitions. Clearly the demand is way higher than what we can offer at the moment. Therefore, we have set ourselves the ambitious target to at least double the funding available to students for 2017/18.

We will cycle from Medway to Canterbury, to Brussels, to Paris in 4 days, covering roughly 100 miles per day, and cycling 380 miles in total! In each of these cities the University of Kent has a campus, and we are proud to use this campaign to also highlight our European connections as a university and students' union. This will be a fantastic adventure, physical challenge, and a great opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause. So please support our challenge!

Kent Union began in 1965 as a small group of venturous students. Today, as one of the biggest Students' Unions in the UK, we ensure all University of Kent students have a voice, fulfil their potential and have an equal chance to get the most out of university and get where they want to in life.
