My younger brother Chris suddenly fell ill in May this year and was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of bowel cancer, unfortunately there was nothing that could be done for him and he very sadly passed away on the 20th June, he was 36.

Chris was looked after at Wigan Hospital during the last few weeks of his life where he was provided with fantastic care and support during this very difficult time.

As a thank you to the hospital and all their staff and in honour of our Chris I am taking part in the Great North Run on the 16th September 2012 to raise money for a new Cancer Care unit that Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust are building on their Wigan site.
