Story

I did it!!  I crossed the line in 1 hour 18 mins. A little slower than I expected, but from all accounts the distance is closer to 9 miles - the last mile seemed more like two miles!  Running through the water was a great experience, I didn't expect it to be up to my chest!

Many thanks to all of those who sponsored me. If you haven't you can still make a donation by following the link.

Postponed from December 5th December 2010 (bad weather meant they couldn't set-up the course).

I've committed to taking part in the GRIM Challenge 2010 on Sunday 16th January, along with a team of 15 from the YMCA. It's more than just an 8 mile race, as it is run over an army vehicle test track - muddy hills, ditches full water to wade through, nets to crawl under, etc. Take a look at  original.grimchallenge.co.uk/

I need some motivation to get me out of bed and drive an hour to take part (especially if it's raining!! or snowing!!). So I decided to raise some funds for charity - so there's no backing out!!

I've decided to raise money for the YMCA's new youth project in Wood Green, Haringey.  With all the government cuts, it looks likely that non-mandatory services, such as youth clubs, will really suffer in coming months, so the work of voluntary sector organisations will be vital.  The new youth club is working in partnership with St Michael's Church, who give their community hall free of charge and have accessed funding for equipment, but there is a need for more funding to make the club sustainable long term - please dig deep!!
