Story

As we all know these last 2 years for the NHS and rest of
the Country have been the most trying and testing times of our lives and something I hope we never have to Experience again.

The reason why I am writing this Today is to give
you a little story about myself and what i will be doing!.

My name Jimmy, 44years of age. Currently work as a Plaster Technician at SGH, been with the Trust now for 21years this coming May. I used to be a keen Runner before Covid-19 struck and competed in Races every month ranging from 5k 10k and half Marathons. But since the start of the Pandemic I have lost my way and stopped Running. Reason why I used to Run alot was to help me lose weight and keep fit,  but also for my Mental Health, which unfortunately in these last couple of years not been too great. Running was my escape and my Time, it kept me motivated plus fit and healthy.

So I said to myself at Christmas Time, right New Year New Start!! ( that old chestnut I know). Let's get back Running, let's move forward and upwards, get that motivation back! So i thought what better
way to get motivated is to Raise money for a Charity that has done so much for this Trust during the Pandemic! The Health Tree Foundation is a charity that has helped Patients, staff's throughout the Pandemic in so many ways. They have played a massive part in the last 2 years and provided so much for each and everyone of us and Patients included.

So I thought I would return the gesture and do my part to help raise money for the Fantastic charity and to say thank you for everything you have done.

My challenge that I have set upon myself is to Compete in 2 10k races within a week apart! (Bearing in mind I will be 44yr in 1st race and 45yr in the 2nd race). First race is on the 5th of June 2022 at Grimsby, The Orsted Great Grimsby 10k and the 2nd one is in Hull the Jane
Tomlinson 10k.
I do have a personal target for both races and thats to finish under 45mins (it's achievable 🙈).  At the moment I am coming in at 50mins, so lots more Training is needed. Bearing in mind I have only just really started Training again this year around 10th of January after myself having Covid-19 (thankfully mildy one after avoiding it for nearly 2 years). A long way to go but it is all very much achievable but the important thing is to Complete both races regardless of the Time.

So what I am asking kindly for is for people to Sponsor me and help me raise as much money as I can. I do have Sponsorship forms in my office and also The Health Tree Foundation has kindly set up a Just
Giving Page too. I have been set a Target of £300 so let's see if we can break that 😊
which would be fantastic to do. Every penny's count so doesn't matter how small you donate it all counts. Thank you for taking time to read this and will look forward to some Support on the day of the Races.
