hi my name is Jimmy Gittins, 6 years ago i had a bit of a injury playing rugby league, resulting in breaking my neck in 2 places.
Since then my life has took on a whole new outlook, with lots of ups and downs that in honesty i probably would not have experienced if it wasnt for my injury.
The RFL Benevolant fund was set up to help seriously injured Rugby League Players and there familys through difficult times. As a benificery of the RFL Benevolant fund this cause is very close to my heart.
The Steve Prescott Fund was formed when Steve was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Since then Steve has raised money for Christies Cancer hospital where he received treatment and the RFL Benevolant fund.
I knew Steve Prescott as a Rugby League player and i now have the privilage to know him as a friend, though i think i broke the ice the night we shared chicken!
Onto the Challenge, a group of mis fits to include several ex inernational RL players and a rather funny comidian in the shape of the new slim and toned Jonny Vegas along with myself and Pete stephenson who also suffered a life changing injuey playing rugby, will aim to carry the Carnige challenge cup ball from Catalans in the south of France to Wembley on the morning of kick off.
Comprising of a 780 mile bike ride through France a 24 mile Dragon boat crossing of the English Channel and 13 mile half marathon run into wembley stadium in time for the kick off.
All our procedes will be spilt 50/50 between the RFL Benevolant fund and Christie Cancer Hospital.
Thank you for taking your time to read about our challenge and hopefully sponsor me.
Thank you
Jimmy
