Whilst 2019 was an incredible year for me and James for many reasons, the year unfortunately came to a close with the shocking and saddening news that our best friend’s beautiful daughter, Tabish, has been diagnosed with Leukaemia. We have been blown away by the bravery and strength with which the Mir family have tackled this heartbreaking news and the subsequent treatment that Tabish is now having. We have nicknamed Tabish our ‘real life super hero!’ Her courage and positivity has been an inspiration and we therefore felt compelled to do something to help Tabish and hopefully many other children and families affected by this devastating disease. Whilst in and out of hospital, Tabish has been helped by the truly magnificent work of the local charity, Dexter’s Odyssey. This charity works closely with Bristol Children’s Hospital to provide support and care for children with cancer and their families. This April, James and I will therefore be running the Shakespeare Half Marathon to raise money for Dexter’s Odyssey. Earlier this year, we also tragically lost a very close family friend (my parents’ best friend) to cancer, and we know how many people’s lives can be turned upside down by it.
