Norfolk Super Hero Challenge · 19 June 2010
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Simon and I finished in 5 hours and 3 minutes.
For those of you who liked statistics, there were 55 teams of 2 taking part and in the Men Only competition there were about 40 teams.
We placed 16th, not bad for our first attempt.
The winning time was an incredible 4 hours and 19 minutes, despite the terrible Force 7 gales and driving rain.
We were lucky as we had no punctures, the record for a team was 6 punctures! Can you imagine that. We stopped our charge through the peloton to lend a pump to a team who were on their 3rd, that and a critical pee break cost us about 5 minutes. According to Simon i was also taking to olong on the changeovers, as i was always wanting to eat something!
We are already planning next year and how we should be able to get our time down (punctures permitting) to something like 4 hours 40 minutes!
I will be putting up some photos as soon as they are available.
Thnakyou to all of you who have so far been able to donate, it is much appreciated by the Wells Hospital team.
Simon Packard and I have joined forces to become "The Half Nelsons".
We are taking part in the Norfolk SuperHero Challenge, http://www.norfolksuperhero.co.uk/index.php
This test of endurance and good humour involves 4 disciplines, swimming, kayak, bike and run, and takes place in and around the beautiful North Norfolk coastline, that many of you know is dearly loved by me and my family.
I wanted my pain and suffering, aching bones and cricked neck to be worthwhile, and am therefore asking you to dig deep and donate to the Wells Hospital & Hospice Trust. http://www.wellshospital.org.uk/
This local resource serves not only the community who live all year round in the area, but also the many visitors and holiday makers who also come to enjoy the sea, wildlife and serene beauty that is North Norfolk.
Hopefully none of the participants in this years Super Hero challenge will need help from the Hospital, but if they do, it will be there, and with the help of any donations that you can make, it will be there for many years to come.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Many thanks
James
