We fund research into type 1 diabetes to find a cure for type 1 diabetes

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are a bunch of 11 Mums who decided, over a beer (or 2...or maybe more!) to take on a crazy challenge in 2018 and in doing so raise some funds for a great cause.

We chose to tackle the 3 peaks challenge and on 18-19 May we will walk our little socks off and try and climb Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowdonia - all in 24 hours! This won't be easy for us - we like our sleep and, being ladies of a certain age, aren't as fit as we used to be!  However we will give it a good go and would very much like to use our challenge to raise some funds for JDRF - the junior diabetes research fund.

So why JDRF?

We have seen first hand the impact that diabetes can have - a good friend of the Crazy Ladies team had her son, Hugo, diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 7.  Hugo's 2 year 'anniversary' of his diagnosis is 12 June and we would like to help him mark this with a little fundraising.

His diagnosis has been life changing for him and his whole family.  On a good day he has to have 5 insulin injections and 10 finger prick blood tests EVERY DAY - including in the middle of the night.

It's scary to think that 90% of all newly diagnosed type 1 diabetics have no family history.  There is NO cure and it's a LIFELONG illness - one which is increasing in incidence by 4% each year.  JDRF fund research to cure, treat and hopefully one day prevent type 1.

So please dig deep to support this great charity.

Wish us luck on our climb - heaven knows we'll need it...that and some good blister plasters.

Cheers all

The Crazy ladies
