Story
Having spent over a year in bed in a dark room, firstly with post concussion syndrome (thanks to a very unpleasant collision with a campervan wing mirror whilst camping - you couldn't make it up!) and then with a bad bout of Covid, I decided I needed to do something to get the old (it's 44 now!) body moving again.
When you spend a very long time horizontal, and exercise is out of the question it makes you think about a lot of things. And realise how much physical movement affects our mental health.
I'm not a runner. At best I can fast waddle. But it seemed like a good way to start the process back from my horizontal norm. Plus, waddling towards a goal is always much easier especially when you are doing it for an awesome charity.
So fast waddling my way round a half marathon is the plan with the intention to help out the brilliant people at the Girls Network so they can support more girls who don't get many opportunities to become the very best they can be.
If you can help out with any donation that would be completely fanastic. But any shout outs or spreading the word or sharing comedy pictures of me beetroot faced in training so more people are aware of The Girls Network would be equally as valuable. And they are always looking for new mentors which could definitely be you so do get in touch with them if it's an idea that has already been percolating in your head!
