In a NICU, infants are usually physically separated from their parents and this often has an impact on the physical, psychological, emotional health of both the parents and the babies. The vision of the New Neonatal Unit at Alder Hey is to provide single cot rooms which include accommodation for parents, in a double family room. This Family Centred Care is a ground breaking approach to planning and delivery of Neonatal Healthcare that encourages greater parent involvement in their infant’s care, under the supervision of dedicated clinical professionals.
