Age UK Suffolk is a local, independent charity. Everything that we do is centred around improving the lives of older people across Suffolk: • offering free, confidential help • helping hand at home • friendship to combat loneliness • time out of the house for those living with memory problems

Story

On Friday 21st October, Age UK Suffolk are asking people across Suffolk to don their slippers for the day and raise vital funds for the charity - by donating £1.  If you feel that this is not an option for you, you can support me in my quest instead!

I will be not only wearing my slippers for the day, but also my pyjamas, and have a full day of meetings and events to attend.  If you would like to support me and make my embarrassment worthwhile, please donate however much you can.  I will be sure to post dodgy photos on Twitter and Facebook throughout the day.

All of the money raised from Slip Into Slippers will be match-funded by Basepoint Ipswich, so every penny really does count.

Age UK Suffolk provide a wide range of often vital services and support to older people in our county.  Offering befriending, day services, information and advice, benefits advice, lunch clubs, dementia groups and much more, the charity has to generate £3m each year to continue this work.

Just an idea of how your donations could make a difference:

£10 could pay for an older person to remain living independently in their home, through support from one of the charity's trained advisors

£50 could help to fund a year's telephone befriending for a lonely older person, offering them friendship and support

£85 could pay for 20 dementia sufferers and their family carers to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment and support at a Forget-Me-Not afternoon.

Slip Into Slippers will feed into the charity's overall campaign for the year - "There's More To Me" which is about recognising, valuing and supporting older people - visit www.ageuk.org.uk/suffolk/theresmoretome
