Diabetes is a subject that is close to my heart after my son was diagnosed 5 years ago.

He had returned from holiday in a coma and we rushed him straight to hospital. After they had run lots of tests the doctors informed me that he was diabetic and his blood sugarsugars were 46. He was suffering with keytoacidosis and wasn't expected to last the night. After 2 days in the high dependany unit he thankfully regained consciousness.  Luckily there was no long term damage to his internal organs.

The diabetic team have been fantastic and he manages his diabetes really well now and is in good health. It could so easily have gone the other way.
