Great East Swim 2017 · 17 June 2017 ·

The main purpose of AKPA is to help improve the quality of life for patients who are being treated for kidney disease at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge and its satellite dialysis units. They provide financial and welfare support for kidney patients and campaign to improve their conditions.

Story

Dad is doing well following his kidney transplant in April thanks to the tremendous work done by the team at Addenbrokes. He's never complained about his illness, just always 'got on with it' - an attitude very inspiring to me. Dad always held out hope that a donor would be found and if he ever felt despairing in the wait, disappointments and endless cycles of dialysis, he never showed it.

I hope that by raising a little cash for the AKPA, I can go some way to saying thank you for supporting all involved in looking after Dad so well in his recovery. I hope I can assist them in a small way in continuing to provide support for people in a similar position.

The Great East Swim is a one mile course in Alton Water in Suffolk in June. I'm really grateful for anything you can spare to help me towards my fundraising goal. It will really give me a boost in the chilly water!
