Story

Like you, I've seen family and friends battle with cancer. Some people win their fight, but not everyone is lucky.  I'm running the Glasgow half-marathon on 6th September 2009 to raise money for a new medical research centre to help more people beat cancer.

Glasgow has the unenviable title of "cancer capital of Europe". The Beatson Pebble Appeal is a £10million campaign to raise funds to build the Beatson Translational Research Centre (TRC), as the final part of the world-class Glasgow Centre for Cancer Research.

The TRC will convert basic cancer research into real improvements in treatments for patients. It will focus on common tumours that cause the most deaths such as endocrine (breast, prostate and ovarian); smoking related (lung, throat, oral) and gastrointestinal cancer. Since the campaign was launched in summer 2007, over £1.5million has been pledged.

Cancer touches everyone's lives, but with better research we can improve survival rates.  Your donation will make a real difference - so please dig deep and donate now.

Many thanks,

Jo
