Lake District Ultra Challenge 2024 · 8 June 2024 ·

Make 2nds Count is dedicated to making people living with secondary breast cancer count. We do this by raising funds to support specialist research into secondary breast cancer, extending and improving the quality of life for patients battling against this treatable yet incurable disease.

Story

Our beautiful sister lost her fight to secondary breast cancer April 2023 and left us all completely devastated.

She was a beautiful person inside and out with the biggest smile we all so deeply miss.

We have decided to take on this ultra challenge in memory of George by walking 50km in one day on the 8th June.

We are asking for sponsorship donations to Make 2nds count.

Make 2nds count is a charity that helps people with secondary breast cancer.

Secondary breast cancer can be treated but can't be cured, this charity helps people with secondary breast cancer live as long and as fulfilled a life as possible.

We are not runners, or long distance walkers in any way.

We will be training hard up to the event, hoping thoughts of our sister being with us every step of the way will help us over the finish line.

We are raising funds as a team through this 1 page.

Please donate what you can and help us support a charity that was close to George's heart.

Thank you

Jo, Amanda and James

Secondary breast cancer is breast cancer which has spread from the breast to other parts of the body. Although secondary breast cancer can be treated, there is no cure. Unlike those living with primary breast cancer, there is no end of treatment, there is no remission. It’s estimated that 35,000 people are currently living with secondary breast cancer in the UK yet only 7% of the National funding for cancer goes towards this incurable disease. Make 2nds Count aim to address this imbalance. Please give generously!
