Story

Last year, my dad was diagnosed with throat cancer. He was facing 3 months of painful radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The size of his tumour meant he had to have a tracheostomy to help him breathe, and in doing so, he lost his voice, and the ability to eat and enjoy food in the way we all know.

Sadly, on the 4th January this year, my dad lost his battle, and we said goodbye for the last time. Cancer has tore a large hole in my family, a hole that will never, ever, be repaired. The loss of a parent is unbearable, and I miss my dad more and more with each day that passes.

My Dad loved his cycling. He has been on various trips to Scotland and Ireland with his friends on their bikes. He bought me my bike, and persevered as he taught me to ride it. So in his memory, I want to get on my bike, for a charity that is close to my heart.

From my studies at university the amazing work that Cancer Research UK funds every single day. From learning to understand the nature of cancer, to developing new treatments that have fewer side effects or improve prognoses, funding from Cancer Research works to improve the lives of those with cancer. If by raising this money, just a few people don't suffer the loss of a loved one to cancer, then our work is completely worth it.

So on the 3rd of July, my friend Luke and I are getting on our bikes and cycling 25 miles as part of the Chester to Liverpool bike ride. Please sponsor us, to help us raise as much as possible for this amazing cause!
