Story
A couple of years after the lucky day in which I survived an accident in the middle of Africa, I was introduced to this amazing organisation, Changing Faces. James Partridge, the founder and a super impressive man who had incurred severe burns to his face, established the charity with the intention of demystifying facial disfigurement by creating greater awareness and so greater acceptance of different looking faces.
Along with running courses and workshops to equip people like me with the skills with which to face the world, Changing Faces has also branched out into schools and hospitals, giving mind broadening talks to educate people. They particularly focus on children and teenagers who have a far harder time dealing with disfigurement than us older individuals.
25 years on the charity has made enormous inroads to help many affected, to give them greater confidence and life skills whilst also gently challenging prejudices of others.
