In February 2022 my Grandad went into hospital with an abscess in his mouth which had caused him to become confused and unable to care for himself and my nan. After a couple of days he was transferred to The Harvey Ward in Medway Hospital where they cared for him and did everything they could to help him. It became apparent that he also had pneumonia. Unfortunately my grandads body was old and tired and after almost 2 weeks there was nothing more that could be done.

5 days after stopping treatment my grandad, Frank Havill, passed away with myself and my sister by his side. All 4 of us grandchildren had been able to be with him during this time by taking it in turns in pairs until he left us. 

During our time there the staff on The Harvey Ward were so lovely, caring, considerate and empathetic and although some people may think that is to be expected of Nurses and hospital staff, its a quality in people that should be celebrated.

I want to raise as much money as possible for The Harvey Ward at Medway Hospital. The Ward is in need of T.Vs for the patients in side rooms, t.v aerials, cordless ward phones for patients to contact family, radios for patients and staff, comfortable chairs for staff and so much more.
