London Marathon 2019 · 28 April 2019 ·

Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters.

Story

I am running the London Marathon 2019 to celebrate the life of my mother Julia who ran the race herself for charity in 1987. Sadly my mother, who was widowed after the death of my father Roger in 2010, fought an immensely brave battle with cancer, but died shortly before Christmas in 2017 at Thorpe Hall Hospice, which is run by Sue Ryder. The staff there were so compassionate towards my mother, sister and me in the most difficult moments that end of life care inevitably brings, and I wanted to give something back and to raise funds for such a worthy cause. Please help me to support this charity and to commemorate my mother’s memory.

Thank you very much,

Jo
