Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, for the MND Association.
I don't consider myself a runner. I find it hard work and only started in January. But I wanted to try it this year to challenge myself to do something useful for charities.
June 14th is the anniversary of Mark Stanton being called home. Mark was such a well loved man by so many, and an excellent athlete who was struck by MND - such a horrible illness that wrecks lives and families. I can only imagine what it was like for Mark and his lovely wife Fi and family to cope with, and they did so with grace and love. The MNDA charity does so much to raise funds for research and to support families during their time of need, in terms of practical issues like adapting homes, assisting with care, training, helping to keep victims independent as long as possible, etc,. So I hope to raise as much as possible for such a worthy cause.
On June 7th I am signed up to run an off-road trail race in Bedgebury forest. Something I have never done before, but I'm determined to follow Mark's example and never give up but finish. It will be nearly a year to the day since he left us, and I hope to raise as much as possible so that one day other families won't have to be broken by this disease.
