On the 2nd April 2023 I will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money for the Institute of Cancer Research in memory of my niece Lily Gilbert. Lily died of leukaemia just after celebrating her 18th birthday. Throughout two years of extremely challenging treatment, she never lost her gentle, cheerful disposition and she remains an inspiration to all who knew her.

The Institute of Cancer Research is making exciting advances against cancer. They take PhD students every year to train as cancer scientists and work on vital research projects. A donation to the Institute of Cancer Research will help to train the next generation of cancer researchers and go on to provide tangible benefits for cancer patients worldwide. I have chosen to support this charity in memory of Lily as I know she lived with hope and optimism and she would look to a future when more people are helped by scientific advances.
