London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·

Headway Jersey supports islanders and their families who are affected by a brain injury. Our day centre serves as a sanctuary where members can engage in meaningful activities, learn new skills, build confidence, connect with others, combat isolation and develop coping strategies for everyday life.

Story

Thanks so much for visiting my JustGiving page and for taking the time to read this.

Having not run any measurable distance since the 1500m race at school some 30 plus years ago, it could be questioned why on earth I have signed up to run the London Marathon 2022.

It’s a good question, but I have never been one to shy away from a challenge. So, when my partner kindly signed me up to the event while out to dinner with friends, the gauntlet was laid down.

To say I have a long way to go in terms of training would be an understatement. However, knowing that the long term goal of every practice run is to ultimately raise much needed funds for Headway Jersey provides a great incentive.

Headway provide essential support, information and services to people in Jersey who are affected by brain injury; the survivors of brain injury who have suffered from stroke, brain tumour, aneurysm and accidents amongst other causes. The services provided are a lifeline to members and also provide support and respite to families and carers who need it most.

Thank you for your support. It is without doubt that your messages of encouragement will keep me going.
