Marrakech Marathon · 29 January 2023

No parent expects to live longer than their child, but for many of the families we support, this is a reality. Julia's House, the Dorset & Wiltshire Children's Hospice charity provides frequent respite care for children and support for their families at home, in the community and at our hospice.

Story

After turbulences of past (let me apologise to those I've wasted my time on, yet I am grateful for all valuable life lessons now, and thanks to all of the angels who remind me how to fly again), now is a time to turn around all of this into something good.

If I learnt one thing over the last 2 years, out of everything you could be in the world, be kind.☺️

I'm setting up this fundraising to support an amazing, local charity "Julia's House"- a Children's Hospice in Dorset and Wiltshire.

Julia’s House is not a typical children’s hospice. They provide practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, providing frequent and regular support in their own homes, in the community or at our hospices. Moreover for many years Barclays & Julia's House shared an office space, hence my decision to support them, which I hope bring me wings during my big run!

I'll be running marathon in my beloved, beautiful Marrakech, combining my biggest new & old passions of travelling, charity work & running into one ' go big, or go home ' adventure. On the day I'll become wiser, rather than older again- 29/01/23.

To all of my wondefull family & friends who always going this extra mile to make me feel so special during Xmas & birthday each year, having you all in my life is more I ever needed, so I'll be entirely grateful if I can ask you to donate towards my fundraising instead of spoiling me again. A little gingerbread man (that have become famous after 7 years of baking tradition) will knock to your door just before Xmas to say 'thank you'.

My travels expenses & marathon entry is self funded, so 100% money, including Barclays £2£ matching scheme will be donated to Julia's House.

How your donation help:
£12 can provide a bespoke play bag for a child;
£30 provides a community care kit to use when providing care at home;
£60 helps to provide vital respite for a family at their home.

Please don't feel obligated by above numbers, ever single £1 helps, this is just an idea what difference your donation can make.

To prove I can actually run a marathon, here are some stats:
677 km in September (running & walking);
Approx 40 kg down in last 3 years;
16 PT sessions;
13 Physiotherapy sessions;
9 months of training so far;
4 pairs of very overpriced trainers😅;
2 tailor made training plan;
1 half marathon (2:20:06🤗)
1 broke down treadmil!

Thank you for all of those wonderful family members, friends & work colleagues who supported me enormously since December 2021 by listening to my running stories, cycling next to me during my 6 am runs, making me another coffee, telling me off for working too many long hours, raising concerns about each of my injuries, understanding my lateness on way too many occasions 'as I need to finish another run', cheering me up on my big 'check in point' during Run Bournemouth event, calming me down beforehand, patiently changing planned days during our travels, and for all countless things you've all done to keep me going.❤️

Special thanks to my "dream team":

BTW Physio in Poole for helping me with knee, ankle, again knee & hip injuries and for a green light to do marathon!

David Lloyd Fitness Club in Poole for an amazing training plan, and giving me a free t-shirt after I've broke down a treadmill during my 1st 10k run, instead of banning me from the gym😅.

After a week of 'Dolce Vita' to celebrate my half marathon, I'm back to my running regime, which will continue until end of January, so please forgive me for stepping down from being a 'social butterfly' temporarily* (*T&C apply, I still want to enjoy Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas, as life is all about having fun without sacrificing responsibilities 😁).
