Bournemouth Bay 10K · 1 April 2012

SPRING was set up to provide support to parents and relatives who have experienced the death of a baby during pregnancy, at, or just after birth. This includes miscarriage, stillbirth and termination for foetal abnormality. SPRING supports in a number of ways, through counselling, befriending and during a subsequent pregnancy.

Story

Hello. I’m running my first ever 10k on April 1 as part of Team Daisy.

Team Daisy are a group of people who are taking part in the 2012 Bournemouth Bay 10k Run to raise money for SPRING.

SPRING is a charity in Poole, Dorset, that supports families dealing with neonatal grief.  In the UK, eleven babies a day are stillborn, and unfortunately my friend Emma’s baby Daisy was one of those stillborn on 21 February 2011, which also happens to be my birthday.

SPRING provided essential support for Daisy’s parents, Nick & Emma, and continue to do so today.  To read Daisy’s story and to find out more about SPRING go to www.justgiving.com/nicholas-johnston.

Any donations would be very gratefully received. I only started running in the autumn of last year, so while a 10k isn’t a huge distance, it feels pretty huge to me!

Thanks very much,

Jo
