Bury Hospice provides palliative and end-of-life care to hundreds of residents and their families across Bury. It will cost to run the Hospice this year £4.8million and we raise 83% of this total, but with the support of our community we continue to provide care and services to those who need it.

Story

Everyone probably has one.  A Gran that doesn't like asking for any help.  A Gran that doesn't want to be any bother to anyone!

Well YES I had one of those and she didn't want to be any trouble for anyone.  That much in fact that when she was in Bury Hospice she tried to discharge herself as she thought other people were worse off than her and she didn't want to make a fuss.  My Gran sadly passed away last year and I have thought it was time to keep my promise so:-

In memory of my Gran I have decided on the 21 August 2010 to face my fears and jump out of an aeroplane at 10,000 feet for Bury Hospice.

Everyone is welcome to attend to see me fear for my life :0)   It will be at The Parachute Centre, Tilstock Airfield, Whitchurch, Shropshire, SY13 2HA

DETAILS OF WHAT BURY HOSPICE DOES

Bury Hospice delivers very special nursing and medical care to local men and women who are living with a life-threatening or terminal illness whilst supporting their families and carers.

Care is provided by in-patient medical and respite facilities, day hospice care including creative therapy, out-patient clinics offering dietetic advice, physiotherapy, palliative care and symptom control and will shortly include a 'Hospice at Home' service. It also includes complementary services, stress management and relaxation therapy sessions, home assessment visits, bereavement support and visitor support services and accommodation. It aims to put the patient first and foremost and tries to care for the whole patient including their physical, emotional, spiritual, psychological and social needs.

A Hospice costs approximately £10,000 a day to run, and the main funding for the hospice comes from public donations
