Full tough mudder 21/09/19 London south & Mini mudder 21/09/19 London south
On March 17th 2019 after several years of having a poorly tummy and several operations , I had an operation to form a permanent end colostomy . Before this surgery I was in pain daily , could barely eat and was unable to do a lot of things as I just didn’t feel well enough .
Fast forward to now , I’m 7 weeks post op , back at work and pain free . It wasn’t an easy start to stoma life , and it’s not all straight forward still , but I feel well , I’m not in pain and I’ve been able to go out with my family.
Not many people know about my surgery , I felt embarrassed about it to be honest , but I’m learning Day by day to embrace life as it is now , to appreciate and be thankful that I’m not in pain and that I’m getting back to being me - a new version !
My husband Greg was going to be doing the tough mudder alongside my son aged 8 doing a mini mudder to raise money for colostomy uk , however last week Greg broke his shoulder and recovery is 12 weeks so our very good friends John Swift has very kindly stepped in to raise money for colostomy uk on our behalf and Oscar will still be doing his mini mudder ! Colostomy UK is a national charity that offers support and advice to people with stomas and to their families, carers and friends. Colostomy UK also campaigns and acts as advocates for ostomates on the many issues they face going about their daily lives. We want hidden conditions to be understood and accepted by all. Our vision is of communities in which everyone is empowered to reach their potential.
Thank you for reading , and thank you for donating !
