Story

In just over a months’ time I'll be running
the Rock 'n' Roll Liverpool Half Marathon in memory of my mum, Susan Moore.

Mum was an amazing and caring person, who always
went that extra mile for family and friends, especially my brother and I. We had an amazing childhood
growing up in the countryside with days spent by the stream with the dogs, swimming in the pools of water or catching freshwater shrimp. I always remember how thoughtful mum was, giving people lifts, doing their shopping and she was always the first one to give money to a charity.

We sadly lost mum in August 2016 to throat cancer
and pneumonia at the young age of 59. She'd been diagnosed in October 2015 and I will always remember her strength to fight the cancer as she underwent surgery
and radiotherapy. Things weren’t easy for mum as her diagnosis a few years earlier of a rare genetic condition which had affected her mobility and started to affect her short term memory made her recovery more difficult, but she would always be smiling.

I’m raising money for Rossendale Hospice, just one of
the charities that was close to mum’s heart, who she volunteered for by selling the hospice sweets to raise funds for them. They are a local charity who do amazing work supporting people with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
