Our fantastic #TeamMDUK runners are taking on the London Marathon 2026 to make every step count in the race to beat muscle-wasting conditions.

Story

Muscular Dystrophy UK is a charity extremely close to my heart. My son George was diagnosed with Beckers Muscular Dystrophy back in 2019 aged 1 years old after his sister and myself were told we were carries of the gene.

It all came as a shock to us as a family. Never do you expect to hear that your child has a life limiting condition, one which currently has no cure. This is why fundraising for this charity is so important to me.

I will be taking on the London Marathon 2026 to raise as much money as possible to help towards finding treatments and cures. Those of you who know me will know I only took up running back in 2022 and the furthest distance I've currently ran is a half marathon so I'm looking forward to this challenge.

I've also overcome major brain surgery for a brain condition so putting myself through a marathon is going to be a real test. I have also been quite unwell with several illnesses including a slipped disc in my spine so pushing on through to raise money for this incredible charity 🧡🧡🧡🧡

Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity for the 110,000 children and adults living with muscle-wasting conditions in the UK. There's currently no cure, and it many cases, it limits lives. MDUK do vital work in funding pioneering research into treatments and cures as well as providing vital information, advice, resources and support for individuals and families living with these conditions. All donations, big or small, are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
