Story
When I first read about how a community in Oxford had fundraised to enable a refugee family to come to Oxford to create a new life away from the horrors of war, I knew that was something I wanted to be involved with. I got in touch with Citizens UK who introduced me to what has become Oxford Welcomes Refugees. We are a small group who feel a human duty to offering what we have to someone who doesn't - we are currently fundraising so once approved by the Home Office, we can set up a refugee family with a home and all the help they will need - for my 35th birthday, I am asking for donations in lieu of gifts.
To make this a bit more interesting, I will be providing 35 book quotes on my personal Facebook and Twitter accounts during February and the extra days to make up 35. These will be from physical books in my flat, showing I'm doing a certain amount of socially distanced exercise and not just copy and pasting from my Kobo account. Everytime someone correctly guesses the name of the book that quote comes from, I will match that day's donations.
