Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2017 I had just moved to Inverness and was living in hospital accommodation, I didn't know many people here and didn't have a home to call my own. Maggie's provided me with a friendly place to visit, kind ears to listen and countless cups of tea to help me through, I also met an amazing group of friends through the centre. When my mum passed away suddenly in May the same year, as I was still going through treatment, my world crumbled, the psychological support that Maggie's provided to help me deal with all these things was invaluable, I don't know how I would've coped this past year without the centre.
I would like to give something back to Maggie's Highlands but I am also very aware that if I'd have been living in my home town of Huddersfield I wouldn't have had access to a local Maggie's centre. So, I will attempt to do a different challenge each month to raise money for both Maggie's Highlands and the planned Maggie's Yorkshire. The planned centre in Yorkshire will be on the grounds of St James' Hospital in Leeds and is currently in the fundraising stage. So any money I raise will be split equally between the two centres.
My first challenge is to complete 10,000 steps every day in February, treatment has taken a bit of a toll on my body so I'm starting out small (although for me it's still going to be a real challenge) and will build up to some larger challenges. I have a few things in mind but nothing is decided yet for the following months, so please feel free to send me suggestions, the wackier the better!
Also, if anyone would like to join me for some of the challenges please get in touch, I don't have to do them all alone! ;-)
I'll keep you updated every month!
Finally, it goes without saying that any donation would be gratefully received and will go towards an amazing cause!
Thanks in advance!
