Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Please read our story, and if you are able to donate it is for an amazing charity 💙❤
Callie was born without complications on 22nd October 2016. The first few weeks of Callies life went well, until she stopped thriving, she wasnt feeding right and wasnt gaining weight.
The local amazing GP sent callie straight up to the hospital, where she was seen by another amazing peadiatrician, who heard a heart murmur.
The very next day we was sent to Leeds hospital to the childrens cardio department, after many tests and anxious waits we was told Callie had a heart defect. PAPVD to be precise and a large hole in her heart. We was absolutley deverstated by this , we thought the worse because we didnt have any awareness of congenital heart defects.
Lots and lots of hospital visits ,tests and waits later, just near her 1st Birthday Callie underwent a gruling 8 hour open heart surgery to repair her heart .
The wait whilst she was in surgery was excrutiating and being away from our eldest daughter back in chesterfield was equaly as tough , but we was provided a room, kitchen facility, free parking, information packs all from THE CHILDRENS HEART SURGERY FUND.
We are extremly greatful and proud to report that Callies surgery was a sucess , he heart is currently functioning well. Callie is growing and developing well. Callie was given a special teddy, medal and certificate to say what a heart warrior she is .
There has been lots of other health complications with callie , some of which are ongoing , but we are so greatful and proud, and thankful to EVERYONE who has supported us on this journey .
We now feel its the right time to try and give something back, so on the 11th September 2021. It will be 5years to the day of Callies open heart surgery, and on that day, I With a team of family and friends to support, will walk from Leeds General to Chesterfield, approx 47 miles continuously to raise money for this amazing charity .
