Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide exists to meet the needs and break the isolation of those impacted by a suicide loss. We provide a safe and confidential environment in which bereaved people can share their experiences and feelings, so that no one bereaved by suicide has to face their loss alone.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On the 4th of December 2017, George took her own life while studying at the University of Brighton. She was 21 years old & this changed our lives forever.

Georgia felt lower than she’d ever felt before and felt alone. She was the last person we would ever have thought this would happen to, and it’s left us with many questions that we can’t find all the answers to.

Although this has been the worst experience of our lives, we have found support in the charity Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS) Not many people are aware of SOBS and the work they do until they lose a loved one to suicide. Sadly there is a need for more groups every day.

There isn't a group in every town and many people across the country have to travel a fair distance to receive support at such a tragic and what may be a very lonely time.

We would like this fundraising to be a step towards increasing the number of groups as well as raising awareness of this charity and helping people to talk openly. We need to talk about Georgia, and sometimes it feels like the only place we really can, is within these groups. They are supporting so many families who have been bereaved by suicide, & they are so important to help us try to understand the loss we have had.

The football tournament & family day allows us to remember Georgia with the game she loved. The teams playing include players that she knew well and had grown up playing with, as well as teams of people who wanted to help us pay tribute to her.

This is an opportunity to raise money for a much needed support charity but most importantly for Georgia’s family & friends to pay tribute to her by remembering her love for football.

This day was thought of by some of Georgia's family, oldest school friends, football friends- we formed a committee. We brought it together to honour and remember her and pay tribute to her all together.

We’d love for players to come together and remember Georgia, for the lovely, funny, unique person she was, and will always be.
