10k Reservoir Jog at Llys y Fran - a Narberth Nobbler Race · 12 June 2022
Myself (Jodie Warlow), Donna Jenkins, Gøril Nilsen & Eline Brun will be (trying to) run a 10k through Llys y Fran on the 12th June 2022 as part of the Reservoir Jog - a Narberth Nobbler Race from 11am.
We are running for Owain Jenkins (partner, brother and friend to us ladies running) who has battled with Sarcoidosis for many years. It directly affected his lungs and skin, which then caused many other illnesses due to the side affects of the disease and the medication he was on for so long. With years of scans, blood tests, x-rays, and the fear it had spread. It took several years for Owain to be diagnosed due to this disease being very rare - which sadly, made the disease spread more than it should have, had it been diagnosed earlier. BUT there is a positive in all of this! He is finally off of his medication for the first time in about 5 years - with the help of the charity Sarcoidosis UK, we hope it stays that way!
Many people haven't heard of Sarcoidosis, if you wish to read more on the autoimmune disease, you can take a read here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/sarcoidosis/
You are welcome to come cheer us on on the day (we're going to need it!) - here is the event to put in your diary: https://narberthnobbler.co.uk/races/reservoir-jog/?fbclid=IwAR0fftyDQHTLl51952HiULoaXWQ4RWormmaO9_nrBvtjRNlfCk-EMza2CEI
We would love to raise awareness to this disease, and in turn raise money for the charity in order to help support people with Sarcoidosis and help fund research for a cure. We're asking for donations towards this cause and any amount, no matter how small, will have a huge impact on this cause and will be truly appreciated!
Wish us luck and thank you in advance!
All our love, Jodie, Donna, Gøril Nilsen, Eline Brun & of course, Owain Jenkins xxx
