Story
September is Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month. There are five gynae cancers: womb, cervical, ovarian, vulval and vaginal. Each day in the UK, 60 people receive the life-changing news that they have been diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer.
Last August, it happened to me. I was diagnosed with early stage womb cancer and in a lot of ways I was really lucky - it was fully curable with an operation and I had the highest quality of care at all stages.
The Eve Appeal is the UK's leading gynae cancer charity and throughout my journey I have always been able to turn to them for support and high quality information (especially when the urge to use Dr Google is strong!).
The work they do to fund life-saving medical research, educate people about the five gynae cancers and provide free, expert information and guidance is vital and I am proud to be supporting them this September by taking part in their 10,000 Step Challenge.
After my surgery last autumn, making it out of the house to the park down the road was a huge achievement. This autumn I will be walking at least 10,000 steps each day in September to raise money for this wonderful organisation and to celebrate my recovery.
Anything you can donate will be greatly appreciated and you will be helping to save lives. Whether you donate £5 or £50, you can help save and improve thousands of lives across the UK. Thank you so much for your support.
