In September I will be trekking around the Mont Blanc region for three days to raise money for Mencap.

Mencap is a UK charity that help to improve the lives of people with a learning disability and their families now, and fight alongside them for a better future!

1.4 million people in the U.K. have a learning disability. Mencap want a world where all people are listened to, valued and included, and not discriminated against because of their learning disability.

As it stands people with a learning disability currently face inequalities in every area of life.

75% of local councils don't have enough childcare for disabled children.

Children with special education needs are eight times more likely to be permanently excluded then students without these needs.

Only 3% of people with a learning disability live as a couple, compared to 70% of the general adult population.

Only 1 in 10 people with a learning disability are in employment, despite a willingness and ability to work.

Finally 1200 people with a learning disability die needlessly every year in NHS care

Mencap want to change this, I want to change this and with your help we can do it together!!
