Restart is the official charity of The Rugby Players' Association. We provide financial, practical and emotional support to professional rugby players forced to retire through illness or injury.

Story

Firstly, its important to clarify that I have never climbed a mountain.  In fact, I have never even been skiing. Originally planned for June 2020, and now moved to June of this year, I will be joining five others to climb the highest mountain in Western Europe - Mont Blanc.  Leading our squad will be Ed Jackson who, six years ago, at the age of 28, suffered a horrific life changing spinal injury that left him paralysed from the neck down.  Over the past 6 years, not only has Ed managed to get himself back on his feet, but has taken it upon himself to scale some of the world's highest peaks to raise awareness about spinal injuries and raise funds for the charities that help.  His story and the work he has done so far is nothing short of remarkable.  Helping him achieve his goals is most certainly the primary inspiration for me wanting to join him on this trek.

Ed, as well as others who find themselves in similar situations owe a lot to the Restart charity.  They were there from the outset to support him and his family, and we will be fundraising on this trip to ensure they can continue to do so in the future.

Any support is greatly appreciated.  Wish us luck

Joe
